Outta The Archives

Outta The Archives is a customer loyalty program that I conceptualized and developed for Lucky Supply in 2019. With nearly every major competitor being injected with resources from private equity backing, I wanted to leverage what Lucky had that no other supplier could replicate.

Jimmy Whitlock, the owner of Lucky Tattoo Supply owns and operates a tattoo museum. In addition to thousands of various tattoo-related artifacts and machines, had amassed a substantial collection of historic tattoo-related photographs and negatives, many of which were tucked away and had never been seen.

Customers were excited to receive the tattoo history cards regardless of the credit that could be redeemed. As the program intended, artists were trading the limited edition cards and it was common to see collections framed or displayed in shops and at workstations. Lucky Supply had a small budget so I designed the program to leverage customer marketing on social media. Lucky also has a small team and I knew that outlining the program around an order threshold was easily trackable. The Outta The Archives Program was a massive success, boosted average order value (AOV), and increased customer retention. It operates successfully to this day in the US, Canada, Latin America, and Europe.

The collection has been pieced together over many years, some purchased, and some donated with one thought in mind, keeping in tact some portion of the rich history of the fine art of tattooing.

I feel, in society today sometimes we forget to look back and remember our roots. Tattooing has come a long way over the decades; it was the pioneers of the art, who practiced in secret and were looked down upon in the eyes of the public, that allowed tattooing to grow into what it is today. For that, I give my thanks to the founders of this wonderful art, and in my own small way I am trying to preserve the beauty and history of the art of tattooing for future generations.
